High pressure gives hot sunshine to England and Wales. Rain arriving
in Ireland strengthens and slips into Scotland. Good morning, It's
another scorcher in England and Wales today - likely the hottest day
of this current heatwave. Expect a largely sunny day with temperatures
rising up to 34C in the southeast. High 20s will extend into north
England and east Wales - only areas near west coasts will be cooler,
likely in the low 20s. A cold front soon makes landfall in west Ireland.
Patchy showery bursts will form from morning, gradually increasing
in frequency. By afternoon, rain may be fairly persistent on the west
coast with patches slipping inland and towards Scotland. This trend
will continue, as much of Ireland and west Scotland will become rainy
through the afternoon, heavies moments in north Ireland and west Scotland.
Highs will only reach the low 20s. This rain will continue to push
east into evening, largely clearing most areas after midnight. Some
cloud may
linger in its wake but many places will see clear skies overnight.
Unfortunately in England, even with clear skies, the air is so warm
that it may be uncomfortably warm even in the overnight hours - lows
reaching 17 to 19C. Lows will reach 8 to 10C north and in Ireland.
